Green - House
Bamboobuttle

2022

In August 2022, we carried out the GreenHouse BambooBottle action in collaboration with @shakti.nepal. The project took place in Bahisepati, a village located 20 km from the Kathmandu Valley, and was developed as an ecological awareness initiative with students from the local high school.

The process began with a series of theoretical workshops addressing soil, air, and water pollution, encouraging reflection on the environmental impact of plastic waste and the urgency of more sustainable practices. This was followed by a one-week on-site construction with a local family, turning theory into collective action.

The structure consisted of a greenhouse built with a bamboo framework, while the roof was made from recycled plastic bottles. This experimental construction aimed to raise awareness about plastic presence in the environment, explore creativity as a response to the climate crisis, highlight the ecological and structural value of bamboo, and contribute to the agricultural production of a local family. It also introduced basic principles of seismic awareness and the durability of bamboo construction.

More than the final object, it was the process itself that held the greatest value — a shared experience of learning, exchange, and celebration. Participatory construction proved to be a powerful educational tool, where building became a way of thinking and transmitting knowledge.
